All players joining the Quiz at The Queens are deemed to accept these rules of play.
The quiz will take place if the quiz master determines there are enough teams and players to constitute a meaningful quiz. Normally this will require a minimum of five separate participating teams. If 5 or fewer teams participate or finish the quiz with at least 50% of the available points then the random prize will not be awarded.
The decision of the quiz master is final in all instances.
Team names must not be offensive. The quiz master may change team names as he sees fit. Teams with offensive names may not be included for consideration for any prizes.
Teams not achieving at least 50% of the available points may be excluded from having their name and result announced. They will also be ineligible for any prizes.
Each team must pay £2 for every player involved in that team at any point during the quiz. Failure to pay for all players may result in points being deducted, removal from consideration for prizes, or disqualification at the discretion of the quizmaster.
If players join a team or contribute to the team in any way during any part of the quiz, the team is required to pay the additional entry fee of £2 per person otherwise the team will be excluded from any prizes.
Use of mobile phones or other devices to assist in finding answers at any time during the quiz is forbidden. If the quiz master reasonably believes a team is using such a device at any time during the quiz, then it may result in points being deducted, removal from consideration for prizes, or disqualification without warning.
Every care is taken to make sure answers are correct but if a mistake is made the decision of the quiz master is final.
People being disruptive will be asked to leave. No refunds of entry fees can be made.
Points are awarded or deducted entirely at the discretion of the quiz master.
The first prize is awarded to the team deemed to have scored most points, second place goes to the team deemed to have scored the next highest number of points. A tiebreak question will separate winners if scores are tied. If still tied, the team that outscored the other team in the most number of rounds will win. If still tied the result will be determined by the toss of a coin.
The random prize will be chosen by a player on a winning team or as directed by the quizmaster. Teams that completed the whole quiz and who have scored at least 50% of the available points will be in the draw for the prize subject to the previous rules.
